Magnum Steels
Limited is one of the leading producers of application steel products
in the country.
An ISO 9002 company - Magnum today is amongst India's largest manufacturers
of Spring Steel Flats, which are used in the manufacture of suspension
components for the automobile industry. In addition, Magnum also
produces various other products like alloy and carbon rounds, high
strength CTD bars etc. Magnum products follow strict quality control
norms and meet various national and international standards like
IS, DIN, SAE/ AISL, BS etc.

To
elaborate further, Magnum manufactures spring steel flats meant
for auto leaf and parabolic spring manufacturers. These are available
in sizes ranging between 37.5 mm to 120 mm width and thickness of
4.76 mm to 22 mm. |
It also makes alloy rounds, catering
to requirements of auto component and machine component makers, engineering
units, and forging industries; which are used in the production piston
rods, bearings, steering components, axles, gear and high resistance screws.
Its carbon steel rounds are used for diverse applications such as in the
production of crankshafts, axle beams, connecting rods, bolts and nuts,
shafts and keys. Magnum is a leading producer of CTD and TMT bars, for
use in construction, building, housing and development industries. These
bars have high fatigue resistance, desired flexibility, minimum crack
width, high bonding strength and have a chemical composition of carbon,
phosphorus and sulphur.
For ensuring quality, the equipment line up installed in the in-house
facility for the same includes a 16 channel Shimadzu spectrometer, a 40
tonnes UTS testing machine, a BrinneljRockwel1 hardness testing unit,
200X microscopes, an extensometer for stress testing, muffle furnace for
heat treatment, and a chemical lab for analysis and counter checks. Quality
parameters include dimension tolerance in keeping with IS 2031-1992; grain
size, as per IS 28531964; an inclusion rating in concurrence with IS 4163-1982
with ABCD; a micro structure free from bending with a uniform distribution
of ferrite and pearlite; step up and step down tests in accordance with
customer specifications; a macro examination for internal soundness, on
which is free from piping, segregation and flake; and lastly, surface
conditions free from defects like seams, scale, laps and imperfect edges.

Steels Limited. The other group companies include BR Associates
Pvt. Ltd., IRS Industries Pvt. Ltd., Vibha Steels Pvt. Ltd. & Deluxe
Alloys Pvt. Ltd. Headquartered out of New Delhi and with offices
spanning the length and breadth of the nation, the group currently
has a state of the art manufacturing set up near Gwalior in Madhya
Pradesh. Together, these units produce close to 100,000 metric tonnes

per annum. In addition, the company has recently signed a MoU with
the Government of Chattisgarh to set up an integrated steel plant
near Raipur. This unit, which is being constructed at a cost of
Rs 212 crore is currently under construction and will commence production
in mid-2006.
With the commission of this new plant, Magnum Steel will expand
its product portfolio to address the demand from a wide variety
of engineering disciplines. Magnum Steel currently employs over
1500 workers and the turnover for the year 2004-05 was Rs 150 crore. |
